چکیده

Introduction: Multi slice T2w-TSE and FLAIR-TSE sequences are two of the most important techniques in neuro-radiology. The problem of partial volume effects and inherent CSF-inflow artifacts in FLAIR can be resolved by using a non-selective 3D-TSE acquisition technique with advanced refocusing pulse angle sweep [1]. A disadvantage of 3D TSE sequences with isotropic voxel size smaller than 1mm is the long scan time. High parallel imaging factors (SENSE, SMASH) have been proposed to accelerate the individual sequences. However, acquiring both high resolution T2w as well as FLAIR images in the same patient study results in unacceptable long scan times. Particularly at ultra high field strengths where improved signal to noise allows for higher spatial resolution this introduces practical limitations to resolution that can be reached. The aim of the present study is to develop a 3D TSE sequence that produces both a T2w and a FLAIR image in a single experiment within the scan time of a conventional 3D-FLAIR at 7T.

Evaluation of Aqueductal Patency in Patients with Hydrocephalus: Three-Dimensional High-Sampling-Efficiency Technique (SPACE) versus Two-Dimensional Turbo Spin Echo at 3 Tesla

OBJECTIVE To compare the accuracy of diagnosing aqueductal patency and image quality between high spatial resolution three-dimensional (3D) high-sampling-efficiency technique (sampling perfection with application optimized contrast using different flip angle evolutions [SPACE]) and T2-weighted (T2W) two-dimensional (2D) turbo spin echo (TSE) at 3-T in patients with hydrocephalus. The Optimization of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Pulse Sequences in Order to Better Detection of Multiple Sclerosis Plaques

Background and objective: Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is the most sensitive technique to detect multiple sclerosis (MS) plaques in central nervous system. In some cases, the patients who were suspected to MS, Whereas MRI images are normal, but whether patients don’t have MS plaques or MRI images are not enough optimized enough in order to show MS plaques? The aim of the current study is ...

Three-dimensional T2-weighted MRI of the human femoral arterial vessel wall at 3.0 Tesla.

OBJECTIVES To evaluate the potential use of a novel 3D turbo spin-echo (TSE) T2-weighted (T2w) technique for assessing the vessel wall in the superficial femoral artery at 3.0 T. BACKGROUND Magnetic resonance imaging can be used for the noninvasive assessment of atherosclerotic plaque burden in the peripheral circulation. Although black-blood 2D TSE techniques have been used for femoral arter...

Fast MR Imaging of the Paediatric Abdomen with CAIPIRINHA-Accelerated T1w 3D FLASH and with High-Resolution T2w HASTE: A Study on Image Quality

The aim of this study was to explore the applicability of fast MR techniques to routine paediatric abdominopelvic MRI at 1.5 Tesla. "Controlled Aliasing in Parallel Imaging Results in Higher Acceleration-" (CAIPIRINHA-) accelerated contrast-enhanced-T1w 3D FLASH imaging was compared to standard T1w 2D FLASH imaging with breath-holding in 40 paediatric patients and to respiratory-triggered T1w T...

The role of classic spin echo and FLAIR sequences for the evaluation of myelination in MR imaging.

PURPOSE The aim of this study was to assess the features of the normal brain development in terms of myelination in infants and young children on fluid-attenuated inversion recovery (FLAIR) magnetic resonance (MR) imaging, and to determine if FLAIR imaging is superior to spin echo MR sequences. MATERIALS AND METHODS T1-weighted (T1W) fast spin echo T2-weighted (FSE T2W), and FLAIR images were...
